| La
Pared in the south of the island was originally built to become a exclusive
tourist resort - but never really took off. Today the town still only really consists of some villas, small bungalows, a hotel, a few restaurants and a handful of shops. La Pared sits in the middle of barren landscape and although the roads lading to it are fine, dirt tracks lead to the beaches. And although little to do there, there is still a golf practice course, a horse riding school and surfing is popular.

La
Pared is named after the stone wall which ran across the island from east to
west dividing the two kingdoms of Maxorata and Jandia. A nice family day out is a visit to the Bahia Mar restaurant which has a panoramic view of the coast, a lovely swimming pool with water slide and a children's play area all set in gardens. The sunset views there are spectacular. La Pared can be reached by taking the north road from Costa Calma or on the Pajara road.
