| You can whittle
away a pleasant afternoon on Fuerteventura sea fishing. No licence is needed
- and some of the catches are huge. In season, large tuna come remarkably close to the shore. Many of these end up on the plates of local restaurants the same day. Some anglers use small, uncooked prawns bought at local supermarkets for bait. Others prefer a paste made of tuna, egg yoke, bread and flour Three or four hooks are used by local fishermen to keep the bait on and increase the chances of a catch. Other popular bait includes chicken, steak and squid. . |
Rods
can often be hired and are inexpensive to buy from many fereterias (hardware
shops).Alternatively, find a "locals" bar - you will be surprised how friendly they are and often have a spare set of rods they are willing to lend out. Beware of the scorpion fish though. There is a poison in theirs pines which can cause painful swellings of handled without gloves.
