Fuerteventura airport information

Fuerteventura airport is situated five kilometres from the island’s capitol, Puerto del Rosario.

It is one of the most modern airports in the Canary Islands and belongs to the Public Corporate Entity Aena, Spanish Airports and Air Navigation, which manages the Spanish airport Network.

Over the years, Fuerteventura airport has undergone many changes and has grown to accommodate an increasing number of flights.

The work goes on and when the new extension is complete, it will be the only airport in the Canary Islands that can cope with Jumbo sized aircraft.

Inside the airport there are 34 check-in counters on the ground floor, with one devoted to special luggage.  There are clear and easy to see flight information boards guiding passengers to the correct desk for check in.  

If you have hired a car via the internet, it is at the meeting point in this hall where you will find the representative with your keys and the paper work to complete.

There are two desks at Fuerteventura airport for lost luggage, one in departures and one in arrivals.

The arrivals hall on the ground floor is separated from the departures by a corridor with desks for hiring cars and an amazing fish tank, well worth taking a look at.  

The taxi rank and bus stops are just outside the arrivals hall and easy to find.

The departure lounge is upstairs and here you will find bars, snack bars, restaurants and shops.

Fuerteventura airport is now a non smoking airport and areas are provided on outside terraces, one on the ground floor at the departures end of the building, and two upstairs, one at each end. for those wishing to smoke.
